Due to my work commitments I needed a reliable dog-walker to walk my boisterous young working Cocker spaniel during the week.
I searched the internet, approached vets and pets shops and was fortunate to find Follow the Lead. John has now been looking after Willum regularly for many years, though I’m not sure he is any less boisterous.
From his perspective, he enjoys the group walks and looks forward to John’s visits. From my perspective, being away from home all day, I have three main priorities (i) having someone totally reliable (ii) having someone I can trust completely with access to my home in my absence, and (iii) having someone kind and knowledgeable to ensure Willum’s safety and happiness.
John fulfills all of the above allowing me the comfort of knowing my dog is always looked after. John has also been extremely flexible when last minute problems have raised and I needed to change my plans. Most importantly, Willum is clearly happy.

We have known John since 2006 when our dog, Toby, was a few months old and we started to need some help with walking him. Toby had a few discipline issues at the start and John approached getting to know him with confidence, firmness and good humour. He soon settled into the routine of going out with John for 2 walks a week and I don’t think in all that time that John has ever cancelled or let us down. John’s knowledge of dogs from a lifetimes experience is extensive and he has often been very helpful with Toby’s health and well-being. He is observant, takes an interest, and has pointed out when Toby has sore paws, ticks or been under the weather. Toby has often boarded with John at holiday times and we have complete trust that he will be happy, safe and well walked; Toby loves John and we feel that John has a great affection for Toby, making it easier to leave him in his care. Our scottie dog had a few behaviour issues, getting anxious and aggressive around other dogs, and finding it difficult to play with them. Our Boxer dog Demelza is a rescue dog from Hungary. We are not completely sure of what she had to endure in her early life before coming to us,but she is very highly strung and anxious and can sometimes become aggressive with other dogs if she feels scared or threatened.Our choice of dog walker/carer was therefore an incredibly important decision for us, and for Demelza.
John has been absolutely amazing on every level. He is firm, fair, kind and loving towards Demelza. She greets him with such affection every day and her love for John is lovely to see.
On top of that, John’s training skills and patience means he is able to walk Demelza freely with other dogs,off the lead and with absolutely no issues whatsoever, something that we,as her owners are still trying to master! John is first class at what he does.

We have known John for approximately eight years as a walker for our beloved dog Oscar. John has been tremendous help and support to us in looking after Oscar whilst we are at work.
John is very approachable and loves the dogs which he takes out daily and respects them as he does his own.
We have had the good fortune to have John home board Oscar whilst we were on holiday and I can honestly say Oscar came back a very happy dog unlike the time we had him in kennels.
John is very trustworthy and had full access to our house each day and we never had a problem with security. John was also very respectful of our privacy in that if we were at home he would come in say hello, pick Oscar up and take him out.
John also ensured that he kept us informed if there were any problems or he felt that Oscar was not himself.
